Leslie
Illingworth
was born in
Wales in 1902. While studying at the Cardiff
Art School he began contributing to the Western
Mail. This led to his work being published in The
Strand and Punch Magazine.
On the outbreak of the Second World War Illingworth
became chief political cartoonist on the Daily
Mail.
After retiring from the Daily Mail
he worked as guest cartoonist on The Sun
and the News of the World. Leslie
Illingworth died in 1979.
