Leon
Barritt (1852-1938)
was a regular contributor to Vim Magazine.
In 1898 he produced the famous cartoon of Joseph
Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst
that illustrated the struggle between the owners of the New
York Journal and the New
York World. In the drawing both men were wearing the
distinctive clothes of the Yellow Kid,
a cartoon character created by Richard
F. Outcault. Outcault had originally worked for
Joseph Pulitzer and the New
York World. but had been persuaded by William
Randolph Hearst to move to the New
York Journal.
